Local Vocals meets every Tuesday evening at the Crossley Centre and is open to anyone aged over 16.

The choir meets from 7.30pm to 9pm and is led by choir leader Phil.

No auditions or previous singing experience are required and members do not need to be able to read music.

Local Vocals was established in 2021 by Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts graduate Laura Bennett-Gornall and now runs 44 other choirs across the North of England.

The organisation said its choirs have raised more than £80,000 for local charities since they were formed.

Members learn songs in four-part harmony and can take part in performances supporting the choir's fundraising.

Songs performed by the choir include music by Oasis, Adele, Take That, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and the Human League.

Recent Local Vocals shows at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester were hosted by Sue Devaney and performed to two audiences of 1,800 people.

The shows raised more than £23,000 for North West Cancer Research.

One choir member said: “I never thought I’d join a choir - thought it was just for people with perfect voices but Local Vocals changed that!

“It’s a warm, fun community where everyone’s welcome and you don’t need a great voice to enjoy yourself. I’m so glad I gave it a go!”
