Fiaz (23) extended his perfect professional record to 10 wins from 10 bouts when he comprehensively out-pointed tough Spaniard Diego Valtierra over eight rounds at the Etihad Arena.
Fiaz, who is managed by Salford's Steve Wood and promoted by Eddie Hearn's big-time Matchroom outfit, was determined to make the most of his opportunity to shine on a world championship blockbuster boxing card.
Nearly 100 Oldhamers flew out to the United Arab Emirates capital with Aqib, and tens of thousands watched the bout at the venue and across multiple platforms from around the world.
Aqib’s amateur boxing coach Ryan Lawson, from the Northside ABC in Clayton, said: "Aqib displayed beautiful boxing through all eight rounds.
"He soon became the clear winner against a very tough, older Spanish opponent.
"His clips were viewed hundreds of thousands of times across various different platforms, and everyone has really taken to him after a heartfelt emotional interview after the fight with Eddie Hearn."
