The charity’s Culture Crawl will take place on Saturday 26 September and will include Rochdale for the first time.
Registration for the walk will begin at noon at The Loom in Oldham before participants make their way towards Rochdale, finishing at Rochdale Town Hall.
The route will include stops connected with local history and culture.
Maggie’s has set walkers a fundraising target of £60, with money raised going towards its support for people with cancer and their families and friends. Participants will also receive an orange Maggie’s T-shirt.
Sharon Furlong is taking part after she and her husband Steve received support from Maggie’s Oldham during his cancer treatment.
She said: “Taking part in Maggie’s Culture Crawl this year means so much to me. I’m doing it to help raise vital funds for Maggie’s and to give something back to a place that has been there for both Steve and I during one of the most difficult times of our lives.
“When Steve was in hospital, I found myself struggling to cope with everything that was happening. I started coming to Maggie’s every week and used the psychologist service to help me through what was an incredibly tough and emotional time. Having somewhere I could go, someone I could talk to and a team who genuinely understood made such a difference.
“Maggie’s has also been a huge support to Steve. He attends the men’s group on a Tuesday, which has given him a safe space to talk, meet other men going through similar experiences and feel less alone.
“Cancer impacts the whole family, not just the person who receives the diagnosis, and Maggie’s understands that. They have supported us both, whenever we have needed them.”
Maggie’s Oldham supports people with cancer as well as their families and friends from Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Tameside and surrounding areas.
Becca Knight, Centre Fundraiser at Maggie’s Oldham, said: “Culture Crawl is one of our staple events of the year and something we look forward to bringing to our supporters and local communities.
“It’s going to be a fantastic day of fun, culture and community, while raising vital funds to ensure Maggie’s can continue to be there for anyone with cancer, their families and friends. Whether you’re joining us with friends, family, colleagues or as an individual, we would love to see you there.”
