Nostalgic Oldham will run from 11am to 4pm, with activities taking place across the town centre.
The Big Yellow Bus will return to Parliament Square, where there will be circus performances, live music and street entertainment.
A community-created mural of Oldham by artist Dave Draws will also be officially unveiled in The Market from 11am.
The illustrated map depicts the borough's heritage and present-day Oldham, with local people contributing through drawing and storytelling. It will remain on display in The Market after the unveiling.
Tame Valley Motors will bring a collection of vintage vehicles into the town centre, while the Saddleworth Morris Men will perform during the day.
Troupe Dance, Raggle Taggle Arts, Betty Brown Bags and Oldham Theatre Workshop will also take part, with Oldham Archives running a family craft workshop.
A Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift tent will give visitors the chance to see the race trophy and find out about the event's planned visit to Oldham in summer 2027.
Subnum Hariff-Khan, Head of Libraries and Heritage and Arts at Oldham Council, said: “Nostalgic Oldham is a chance to celebrate everything that makes our borough special, from our history and traditions to the people and communities that shape Oldham today.
“There will be something for everyone to enjoy, whether that's exploring the vintage vehicle display, watching live performances, getting involved in family activities or seeing the new community mural unveiled.
“As Greater Manchester Town of Culture, we're proud to bring events like this to the town centre and, because it's completely free, we hope residents and visitors alike will join us for what promises to be a fantastic day.”
Northern Roots will also open its new Welcome Building, Forestry Skills Centre and an additional four acres of its Urban Farm from 11am on the same day.
The Welcome Building includes a café and shop, while an outdoor children's play area will also be available.
Nostalgic Oldham runs from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 19 September and is free to attend.
