Mr Smith, Head of Sixth Form, commented “I am delighted with the overall results and the fantastic achievements of individual students. The students should be so proud of themselves, their hard work has clearly paid off. 50% of our students achieving A*-B grades is fantastic, and our provisional Alps progress figure of a 2, puts us in the top 10% of KS5 providers in terms of student progress.

I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that a significant number of students have overcome adversities both in their time in main school and during Sixth Form. We are unbelievably proud of these students and the progress they have made.”

These excellent results have allowed over 75% of students who applied to university entry to their first choice of university, with over 90% achieving their first or second choice. As usual, Crompton House students are moving on to a range of different universities. This includes Katie Elphick, our top achiever (5 A* in Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and EPQ) and Abigail Evans (A* Sociology, A Psychology, A Biology) who are reading Biology and Human Sciences at Oxford University, Brooke Crotty is moving on to read Human, Social, and Political Sciences at Cambridge. Cain Andrews, who achieved in the top 6% in the country in his UCAT entrance exam earlier in the academic year, is moving on to study Medicine at the University of Manchester.

With our dedicated Apprenticeship support programme, several students have secured top positions in local companies. Marcel Holdip and Brooke Burgess have had their inductions at Softcat in Manchester, with Adam George starting at CBRE and Max Evans combining his love of physical geography and biology at Yorkshire Water.

The University of Manchester remains a popular destination with students, with Grace Fitzpatrick (A*, A, A, Physics with Astrophysics), Dan Abbott (A, A, B, Aerospace Engineering), Caitlin Clarke (A*, B, B, Psychology), Sophie Meyrick (A*, A, B, Architecture) and George McLean (A*, A*, A*, B, Politics, Philosophy & Economics) joining Cain there.

Head of School, Susanna Hegarty said "I am immensely proud of our Year 13 students as they receive their A-Level results today. This wonderful year group has achieved a particularly rewarding set of outcomes, which are a fitting reflection of the quiet determination, character, and focus they have shown throughout their time in our Sixth Form. Our staff have worked tirelessly alongside these young people, and it is truly heartwarming to see that shared dedication reflected in such brilliant individual achievements today. Thanks to these superb results, the vast majority of our leavers have secured their first-choice destinations at competitive universities and on premier professional training routes. They leave us with our fondest memories, our warmest congratulations, and our very best wishes for the exciting future ahead of them."

The following students demonstrated amazing progress throughout their 2 years at CHS Sixth Form, well exceeding their target grades in the end: Isabella Woodman, Lola Hogan, George McLean, Eleanor Petrie, Joshua Neaven and Tiger Yang.

Crompton House’s Music Department continues to support students applying for top Music Colleges and Universities.  Marianna Cooke will be starting at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, for a Music Performance Degree on trumpet.

This year 23 students completed the Extended Project, with nearly 50% achieving A*- A.  There was an amazing range of work submitted this year and we are so proud of the independent skills that they have developed throughout their projects. Some outstanding projects this year included top achiever Katie Elphick whose book on the poisonous plants of Great Britain was awarded an A*. George McLean’s essay on resistance training variables also achieved an A*, as did Luca Renfrew’s dissertation on the likelihood of humans colonising Mars. Medic Cain Andrews achieved an B for his exploration of the UK’s approach to dementia care and Abigail Evans’ project on whether the school day should be altered to better suit teenage sleep patterns was an ideal precursor to her moving on to Human Sciences at Oxford. For the first time ever, we had a student who produced an artefact as part of a group, Claudia Greenwood completed her EPQ in conjunction with the Young Enterprise Scheme, producing vegan and halal sweets. The EPQ presentation evening took place in the Sixth Form Centre before the students left for study leave. It was a wonderful evening where the students were able to display their academic posters and discuss their work with peers, teachers and family.

Mr Newell, Executive Head of Crompton House Multi Academy Trust, said: “This Year 13 cohort has been truly outstanding. A pass rate of 99.8% is an exceptional achievement, and we estimate that our progress measure will place the Sixth Form among the top 10% nationally.

“These results are a testament not only to the talent and determination of our students, but also to the dedication and commitment of our staff who have supported and inspired them throughout their time at Crompton House.

“Our students have demonstrated exceptional ability, resilience and character, and we could not be prouder of everything they have achieved. As they leave Crompton House to begin the next exciting chapter of their lives, we wish every one of them continued success and happiness for the future.”
