Officers from the Greater Manchester Police Transport Unit have been engaged in extra patrols at Metrolink stations in Oldham.
A number of officers were present at Hollinwood and Failsworth Metrolink stations, as well as Newton Heath.
The Transport Unit is working together with Metrolink and Transport for Greater Manchester to increase presence at anti-social behaviour hotspots.
Hollinwood and Failsworth stops have been particularly affected, with police saying anti-social behaviour continues to be an issue on the Manchester to Rochdale line.
The action is part of the Greater Manchester TravelSafe Partnership which aims to reassure travellers that journeys on public transport are safe.
Transport staff and police spend more than 5,000 hours per week patrolling the Metrolink and bus networks. Their job is to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, and to reassure passengers that they can travel safely in Greater Manchester.
Control rooms operate 24/7 and monitor feeds from more than 3,800 CCTV cameras that are in place across the region’s bus stations and interchanges, tram stops and rail stations.
All trams are also fitted with CCTV.
