Only a fifth of trains are due to run on half of the network so the advice is to try not to travel, and work from home where possible.
The rail service through Oldham to Rochdale and to Manchester, however, remains unaffected with Manchester Metrolink services running as normal.
Metrolink will be operating additional double services across the network on all the affected dates in order to create extra capacity on the network.
There is no ticket acceptance in place on Metrolink services. You will need to purchase a separate Metrolink ticket for your journey.
Meanwhile, Piccadilly station will only be open between 7am and 7pm today. Tram services will still stop at the station outside of these times, but access will only be via the walkway on Fairfield Street, and not through the main station concourse.
For passengers travelling further afield, details of disruption on services provided by train operators can be found here:
There are further strikes planned for Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 June.
